Comprehensive Report Card Newsletter
- A letter has been sent home to provide parents and children information on how our reporting system regarding progress reports will work this year. Please ensure that read and return the bottom portion of this newsletter to the school by no later than Monday November 24th.

Picture Retakes are on Monday November 17th
- Those students who are unhappy with their initial pictures are to return them and have retakes on this day.
- Those students new to the school or who were absent on picture day are to have their picture taken on Monday. **ALL students miust have their picture taken for security purposes even if they are not ordering any photos.**

LEARNING LOGS
- All of the students in LC5 have been sent home a learning log. Please ensure this is filled out by your child and have them return it SIGNED by their parent/guardian by Thursday October 30th, 2008. Thanks!!!
PD DAY FRIDAY OCTOBER 31st
School is closed to students. Also, please limit the amount of Candy your child brings to school the days following Halloween. TRICK OR TREAT!!!
GREYSTONE HALLOWEEN 2008
- At Greystone we are continuing our tradition of celebrating Halloween with our annual SPOOKAPALOOZA. The students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of school wide activities (eg. Dance, Arts and Crafts, Games Room, Movie Room, Pumpkin Carving, Outdoor Physical Activities). This will be held in the afternoon of Thursday October 30th, 2008. All students are welcome to dress up in their costumes for the day.

SCIENCE PROJECT
The students of LC 5 have been studying weather since the beginning of the year. Now, the students have been given the choice of 3 projects they can work on. Please have your child discuss the 3 options they have, and help them decide which one they should focus on. Please keep in mind that all materials must be provided from home.
SOCIAL STUDIES PROJECT
The students of LC 5 are working in groups to research each of the regions in Canada. As a class, we've already studied the Interior Plains Region. Each group is now working on one of the following five regions:
- Appalachian Region
- Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Region
- Canadian Shield Region
- Cordillera Region
- Arctic Region
Please discuss with your child the region in which their group is researching and encourage them to brainstorm at home ways in which they may be able to represent the information they've discovered. Any materials out of the ordinary should be provided from home. Below is a list of suggested materials that may be purchased at any dollar store:
- Fun Foam
- Cotton Balls
- Plastercine
- Popsickle sticks
- Ribbon
- Felt pieces
- Craft pompoms
- Pipe Cleaners
- Etc.....
